Brothers,
I want to keep you updated on everything that is going on. Know that more things are on the way and I will make every attempt to keep you updated in a timely manner.
Here is a summary of the latest:
Food Collections
Under the direction andcoordination of our brother Knight, Terry Maher, our council has been workingto address critical needs to feed our seniors through the efforts provided byResources for Seniors.
The response from ourbrother Knights, our parish, and the surrounding community has beenincredible! Here is a summary for the last two weeks:
– Monetary donations have exceeded $6100 from 75 donors. This money has been used to purchase groceries at the Eastern North Carolina Food Bank which sells food at significantly reduced prices to authorized agencies that feed the needy.
– Non-perishable food donations have been amazing. Over 1200 items have been donated by the Parishioners with other food items coming in from other local residents including Parishioners at St Mary Mother of God in Garner, NC.
– EPIC Radio promoted our cause last week and their listeners responded with monetary donations to assist our efforts.
– Over the past 9 days, Resources for Seniors has distributed approx. 225 meals to their existing clients, as well as, to individuals who are seeking RFS’s assistance for the first time. Food has distributed from “Apex to Zebulon and every city in-between”.
– The senior’s need for food continues throughout the area and RFS is planning to shop at the Food Bank again this week to supplement the food supply they have at the Wake Forest Senior Center (they call it a Pop-up Food Pantry) and anticipate another Wednesday Food Delivery by the Parishioners.
I have attached a list of all the items that have been collected to date. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity!
RFS has stated that without the generous support of the Knights of Columbus and Parish members of St Catherine, they would not have been able to respond to the distributing grocery bags of food for insecure older adults throughout Wake County. These bags include nutritional supplements, paper products, and non-perishable items (incl grains, fruit, veggies, and protein).
God Bless all of you who have come to their assistance! A special thank you to Terry Maher, Anthony Nacional, Eric Pasarin, and Dave Rogers for working to put all of the pieces together. You guys have been great!
Sign-ups for the last 2dates: 4/15 and 4/22 are thin, so please consider offering to donate food hereso we can continue to ensure our seniors are taken care of: Helping Seniors in Need

Blood Drive
Under the direction andcoordination of our Worthy Advocate, Tony Morano, we will be hosting a blooddrive on April 24th from 02:30 PM – 07:30 PM in the multi-purpose room(gym).
Tony and I have been incontact with Fr. Bill John and the Red Cross to ensure that we have protections inplace and that all staff follows these precautions during the drive.
Our Red Cross representative mentioned that they have lost over 9,000 units of blood locally,so they are depending on community drives to continue the collection of blood.
I want to thank Fr. Bill John for allowing us to use the Gym during the shutdown. I also want to thank GK BobWeisenberger from the St. Francis council for providing guidance on implementingthe necessary safety precautions that will allow us to move forward with the drive.

Asexpected, we have been unable to reach some of our members by phone. If you havenot yet been contacted, it’s a good indication that we need to get your updatedcontact information. Please forward anyupdates to me and I will be sure that it gets into the system.
