Changes for Monday, April 15
 NO HOUSE RULES COMMITTEE
VOTES ON BORN-ALIVE AT 3:30 PM

We have just learned that the House Rules Committee will NOT be hearing H602, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act on Monday, April 15, at 3:30 pm; but, the Senate will still consider S359 at 7:00 pm.

Please arrive at the Legislative Building on Jones Street by 6:30 pm.

– Please also contact your House and Senate members to ask them to support the legislation. At least one Democrat has voted for the bill on the House side. (See the links below to send an email or make a phone call.)

CALLING ALL PRO-LIFERS TO ACTION:

When: 7:00 pm when the Senate reconvenes. Arrive early in order to go through security and get a seat in the Senate Gallery on the 3rd floor of the Legislative Building.

What: The Senate debate and passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, S359, after which the bill will be sent to the House for them to vote to pass S359, most likely on Tuesday, April 16.

Background: This bill protects babies born alive regardless of whether they were born after an attempted abortion.  North Carolina Right to Life supports the bill because it bans infanticide.   The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on a voice vote Wednesday, April 10, and the Rules Committee with a voice vote on Thursday, April 11.  Many pro-lifers showed up Wednesday to show their support and were rewarded with a great outcome.

– Wear light (baby) blue clothing.
– Everyone should try to sit together.
– We will have stickers for everyone to wear who comes to the legislature.
– Pass the word to family and friends.

| Resources:
– You can listen to the proceedings if you are unable to come (we really need folks to make the effort to be present) and access the calendars for the NC House and Senate here.
– NCRTL website with a listing of the bills we are supporting.
– There is visitor paid parking on Salisbury Street, the corner of Jones and Wilmington (diagonal to the Legislative Building), and the corner of Edenton and McDowell Streets.  See the map here.
– Here is a link to the floor plans for the Legislative Building and Legislative Office Building (LOB).
– To find out who your Senator and Representative are, click here.
Remember, if you are unable to come to Raleigh, you should still call your senator and representative, especially if they are Democrats, to ask them to support the bills and then plan to listen to the debate.

More pro-life bills to be heard the first week of May.
