Something to blast to the brothers if you deem worthy.

I’m sure that some of our council listen to Divine Mercy radio that recently moved from low-power FM to a truly powerful AM station.  I didn’t see anything in the bulletin, but it is a wonderful instrument for Catholics (and non-Catholic as well), now reaching a potential 3 million listeners.  It goes through Wednesday.  Hopefully, our brothers can listen and contribute.  As an aside, I was part of joint announcing this morning (Monday), and will be on-air for the Noon and 1am spots tomorrow Tuesday.  I always give shoutouts for St. Catherines, as well as Council 11234!!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Catholic 540-AM Divine Mercy Radio will have its first On-Air Pledge Drive on April 29, 30 and May 1st. The broadcasts will be LIVE and will feature priests and guests from around the area.

Some of our On-Air guests are Fr. Phlip Tighe – Diocesan Director of Vocations and Seminarians, Fr. Bill John Acosta – pastor of St. Catherine of Siena parish in Wake Forest, Fr. Ian Van Heusen – Chaplain at ECU in Greenville, and Msgr. Jeffrey Ingham – pastor of St. Joseph parish in Raleigh.

We will have several matching donations available plus a variety of gifts for donations of $100 or more – statues, Catholic stationery, DVDs, books, etc., plus 2 drawings for the new book “The Holy Sacraments” which is signed by Fr. Philip Tighe, a contributor of the book.

Tune into 540 on your AM dial or Listen Live via our website Catholic540AM.org. We will be starting 7am each morning and going until 7pm each evening. To make a pledge, call us at 919-300-5400 starting Monday morning, or DONATE any time via our website.

If you would like to offer a donation of $1000 or more to use as matching funds during the pledge drive, please contact Director Cecelia Flanary at 919-616-8402.

As you know, Divine Mercy Radio is entirely funded by listener donations. Our goal is $31,800 and I am asking that you pray for the success of this pledge drive and support local Catholic Radio.

Thank you for your continued prayers and generous support.

Wishing you special blessings throughout the Easter Season!

Good Morning,

As mentioned last week Hank has returned home and is resting comfortably.

I saw Hank at Mass this morning and he has requested that he have limited visitors for awhile.
Currently, he is undergoing home physical therapy 3 times daily 6 days per week. This tires him out.

Therefore, he has requested that no one come to visit without him being contacted in advance.

So, if you wish to visit Hank call before coming or it may cause issues for Hank.

Easter Greetings

Saturday, April 20th, 2019

Brothers,
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Easter.  I feel truly blessed to call you brothers and I thank you for work you do for our parish and our community.
Over the next few weeks, we have a lot of things going on and we also have a great need for your assistance.  I wanted to pass along some important information in case you were unable to attend the last business meeting.  Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated!

– We still are in need of parking assistance for the Easter Masses at 8:00 am and 10:45 am tomorrow.  If you are able to help, please contact Rick Punke at  rpunke@scswf.org

– StCatherine of Siena Feast Day is on May 5 th  from noon to 5 pm.  We will need some 4 or 5 volunteers to help set-up and take down tables. Please let me know if you can help out.

– We still need volunteers for our April OpLamb event scheduled for Saturday, April 27th and Sunday, April 28th  So far the response has been very light.  We only have half of the doors and time slots covered.  I can’t stress enough how important these funds are to the special needs programs in our local schools.  Please consider giving two hours over the weekend to help the Least Among our Brethren.

Changes for Monday, April 15
 NO HOUSE RULES COMMITTEE
VOTES ON BORN-ALIVE AT 3:30 PM

We have just learned that the House Rules Committee will NOT be hearing H602, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act on Monday, April 15, at 3:30 pm; but, the Senate will still consider S359 at 7:00 pm.

Please arrive at the Legislative Building on Jones Street by 6:30 pm.

– Please also contact your House and Senate members to ask them to support the legislation. At least one Democrat has voted for the bill on the House side. (See the links below to send an email or make a phone call.)

CALLING ALL PRO-LIFERS TO ACTION:

When: 7:00 pm when the Senate reconvenes. Arrive early in order to go through security and get a seat in the Senate Gallery on the 3rd floor of the Legislative Building.

What: The Senate debate and passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, S359, after which the bill will be sent to the House for them to vote to pass S359, most likely on Tuesday, April 16.

Background: This bill protects babies born alive regardless of whether they were born after an attempted abortion.  North Carolina Right to Life supports the bill because it bans infanticide.   The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on a voice vote Wednesday, April 10, and the Rules Committee with a voice vote on Thursday, April 11.  Many pro-lifers showed up Wednesday to show their support and were rewarded with a great outcome.

– Wear light (baby) blue clothing.
– Everyone should try to sit together.
– We will have stickers for everyone to wear who comes to the legislature.
– Pass the word to family and friends.

|
|
| Resources:
– You can listen to the proceedings if you are unable to come (we really need folks to make the effort to be present) and access the calendars for the NC House and Senate here.
– NCRTL website with a listing of the bills we are supporting.
– There is visitor paid parking on Salisbury Street, the corner of Jones and Wilmington (diagonal to the Legislative Building), and the corner of Edenton and McDowell Streets.  See the map here.
– Here is a link to the floor plans for the Legislative Building and Legislative Office Building (LOB).
– To find out who your Senator and Representative are, click here.
Remember, if you are unable to come to Raleigh, you should still call your senator and representative, especially if they are Democrats, to ask them to support the bills and then plan to listen to the debate.

More pro-life bills to be heard the first week of May.
