Looks like it was just a flare up by kidneys. Fortunately,
I’m at one of my transplant hospitals. I hope to get discharged this afternoon and will then look at options to get home.

October OpLAMB Sign-ups

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

Worthy Brothers,
As you all know, one of our most important commitments we have as Knights is to live up to the first principle of our order – charity.  One of the ways we can do this is through our support Operation LAMB.
Volunteering for Op LAMB and paying dues on time, are the only things expected of every Knight in our council.  If you haven’t had a chance to participate recently, please take this opportunity to sign-up below and help us make the October event a great success.

Upcoming Events and Important Meeting Highlights

Monday, September 24th, 2018

Worthy Brothers,
I know that many of you were not able to attend the business meeting this week so I wanted to pass along some information on upcoming events and some important meeting highlights.

– 2019 State Convention – our council has been invited to participate in the planning for this year’s state convention.  The second planning meeting is this Monday at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel (Judicial Room) at 6:30 pm.  Please feel free to join us if you are interested in helping out.  I will provide more information as it becomes available.

– Blood Drive – The next blood drive is scheduled for Friday, September 28th.  Our Worthy Advocate, Tony Morano, could use some help with set-up and close-down, so please let him know if you are available to help: ajm12425@aol.com.

– Billy Scott Memorial Golf Tournament –  Council 2546 will be holding their annual Billy Scott Memorial Golf Tournament on Oct 15th at Pine Hollow Golf Club – http://wake-enterprises.org/about-us/ .  Please see the attached flyer or contact Tim Kilpatrick @ 919-880-3463 for more information.

– 40 days for life (from Laura Franceschi) – 40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion. It draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program: Prayer and fasting; Constant vigil; Community outreach

TAKE A STAND FOR LIFE – From September 26 to November 4, the Raleigh community will take part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond.

Dates for St. Catherine of Siena: Wed. 10/24 and Sat. 10/27 2018
Hours: 7 AM to 7 PM                Where: Public right-of-way outside Woman’s Choice, 3305 Drake Circle Raleigh, North Carolina
Please only park on Harden Road to avoid potential conflicts with the abortion facility and businesses surrounding them..
               Sign up online at: https://40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/raleigh/calendar/?start_date=20180920

– Hurricane assistance – Former parishioner and brother Knight, Phil Barber addressed the council on the need for assistance in the New Bern Area, especially the need volunteers.  He offered the following resources as a way to provide assistance:

St. Paul CC of New Bern – http://www.spccnb.org/
           Catholic Charities – http://www.catholiccharitiesraleigh.org/

– Membership Dues – We still have quite a few members who haven’t paid their dues.  As a reminder, you can send your payment to:
William M Schirf             520 West Holding Ave            Wake Forest, NC 27587

or pay securely online at http://kofc11234.org/dues
Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information or have any questions.

Mike,

In addition to asking for help to load the truck at the Masses Sept 29/30, could you please ask if anyone may be available and willing to drive the truck from St. Catherine’s to Wilmington, NC on Monday, Oct 1.  The exact address will be provided as it will be a Catholic Charities distribution center.  The truck will be unloaded by local volunteers and they would return the truck to the Church that same day.

Thanks,
George
