Subject: KofC Representation at Special Olympics
Brother Knights,
I hope you remember my speaking with you about representing our Council by volunteering at the Special Olympics Summer Games. I hope you have given it serious thought and consideration. The event I hope you join us for is the bowling competition awards ceremonies. The bowling awards are scheduled for Sunday, June 5th at Buffaloe Lanes, Cary (151 High House Rd). Ceremonies will take place from roughly 10:30 AM until 3:30 PM. Special Olympics of North Carolina will provide lunches, and t-shirts for all volunteers to keep. I will be leading the awards ceremonies and directing the Awards Team. We will work together in putting together the awards and presenting them to the athletes. Here is a video of an individual awards presentation for you to view, if interested. Of course, this team of volunteers is from a military institution. We will not be so formal.

Special Olympics staff would also like to provide training for the Awards Assistant volunteers prior to the event so that we all will be familiar with the process and will know what to expect. They suggest that we take about 30 minutes prior to our next meeting on May 12, if this is satisfactory.
I can tell you from personal experience that when you leave at the end of the day, you will be tired. But you will also be full of joy and satisfaction. I guarantee that you will not regret the time and energy spent. Please check your calendars and simply reply to this e-mail as soon as possible if you are able to assist. Include your t-shirt size so we can order the shirts. Also, if you know of anyone else that wishes to volunteer, include their names, e-mail addresses and t-shirt sizes. Family members are welcome, and anyone 18 years of age or older can volunteer. We need 12 volunteers to confirm their participation and so far, we have 2. Please help Council 11234 make a good showing! Thank you.
Yours in Christ,
Joe Csuka

Hi Matt,
Please know my family and I am so grateful for all the thoughts and
prayers. The cat scans on his head, neck, back and stomach came back
negative. X-rays of his back and shoulder also look good. They are letting
him come home once they give him another dose of pain killers and something
to make him sleep. He will be sore for the next 3 days and is on bed rest.
Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers.
Vivat Jesus
God Bless

In need of Brown Bag Ministry Leaders
Tuesday, April 12th, 2016-
Meets 2nd, 4th and 5th Saturday of each month from 10-11:15 at Trinity Center at St Catherine’s (April, July, October and December have 5th Saturdays in 2016)
-
Pick up food at Aldi’s on 4241 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh on 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursday of each month at 10:45am. Thursday is the only day Tom Falvey will be there with Brown Bag Ministry truck. If Food Bank runs late then you might have to wait a couple of minutes for Tom. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get the food items from Tom, which includes all supplies, bread, fruit, bologna, cheese and snacks. We are given bread to make 320-350 sandwiches, 20 bologna, and 2 blocks of cheese per Saturday.
-
Anyone with a mini-van, SUV, or truck could do pick up. Bologna and cheese must be stored in a refrigerator. Bananas need to be stored in a cool place.
-
All supplies must be called in for the month to Stacey Bell before the 2nd Thursday. This includes brown bags, sandwich bags, gloves, snack bags.
-
Check for donations in the Narthex at St Catherine’s Church. Any items marked BBM you can take.
-
Saturday morning all food items including crates are taken to St Catherine just before 10am. This would fill up a mini-van with backseats removed or folded down into the floor.
-
The volunteers take over from there with sorting snacks, counting bags and making sandwiches.
-
A separate group of volunteers goes in the adjoining classroom to make 30 Brown Bags for Turnberry Apartments. We have decided not to give them sandwiches anymore because they weren’t being used so they get oatmeal, fruit and snack.
-
When the lunches are complete we clean up, load up cars and head over to New Hope Village on N. Allen Street to hand out lunches.
-
A separate group heads to Turnberry Apts in Wake Forest.
-
Crates, supplies and food, as of now, have been stored at the Ligowski home. We have not been able to get room at St Catherine’s.

Tuesday, April 12th, 2016Prayer request for Nick Petruzzi
Monday, April 11th, 2016My brother Knights,
I just received a phone call from Gregg Petruzzi. Nick was in a very
serious auto accident this afternoon, and is being rushed to the hospital.
They do not have an indication of the seriousness of his injuries at this
time, but he had very bad back pain as they loaded him for transport.
Please pray for Nick’s health and healing, and for Gregg and the entire
family for comfort and peace as they await word from the doctors. Also
pray for those doctors as they take care of our brother. Any updates that
become available, I will pass along as appropriate.
Thank you and God Bless.
